Concerned About Local Environmental Issues? Contact Carol Brown, E. Guaymas Pl., at 327-8586 Or whwpud at aol.com (subject ‘water’) Are you worried about our habitat? Do you try to reduce your impact on the Sonoran Desert by recycling or volunteering? The Peter Howell Neighborhood is uniquely positioned at the headwaters of the Alvernon Wash. As such we can impact much of the local watershed contributing to the Rillito. This past year I took a six-month course from the U of A Cooperative Extension on watershed issues. Class topics included: water harvesting, invasive plant species, household pollutants, flooding erosion, water conservation, weather changes, etc. Now I am trying to find out what other neighborhood residents are doing about such issues. Are you interested in the above topics, or similar environmental issues? Do you harvest rainwater at your house? Maybe you are a ‘weed whacker’ on public lands. Perhaps you teach about the environment in your work… Whatever your interest, please contact me – no strings attached. |
